Commentary and Apology – National Pain Strategy

Yes! Another groundbreaking pain report was released. This time from the National Institute of Health. Even though this is a step in the right direction we have to admit the current biomedical model around pain has not helped for millions. I shot a video about the report.

The outdated biomedical model is being replaced with a biopsychosocial model for chronic pain.
We need to do better and expand conservative treatment making it affordable and available to all.
Medical institutions, private practitioners as well as government and insurance providers will begin to make the switch. This will have an impact on affordability, access, and reimbursement for conservative pain measures.
Along with the CDC Guidelines for Opioids this report will help reverse the nations chronic pain epidemic. You can read the entire report by the NIH here called National Pain Strategy, A Comprehensive Population Health-Level Strategy for Pain.
