Q: What research/studies support this work?
Exposure is a core feature of all 6 ACT processes (values, committed action, present moment awareness, self-as-context, defusion and acceptance). Exposure is also a key ingredient in many ACT protocol for various clinical conditions including pain, anxiety, OCD, depression and trauma. Finally, it’s also a core feature of many physical therapy treatments where one is required to move with pain.

The ACT in Motion course is an evidence-based training built off of the work found in the self-help book Living Beyond your Pain: Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to Ease Chronic Pain. This book is recognized by the American Psychological Association and based on empirically-supported in-person treatments. Additionally, the experimental and exposure work can also be found in The Art and Science of Valuing in Psychotherapy: Helping Clients Discover, Explore, and Commit to Valued Action Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Q: Do I have to join the Facebook group if I sign up for a class?
Joining the Facebook group is not a requirement of any of the courses. Rather, the Facebook group is an optional way to interact with Dr. Tatta and other participants! You can ask questions, network, and share ideas.

Q. Is there a way to have all the content delivered at once?
All of our programs deliver new content on a weekly basis. Due to the depth and practicality of the content, we recommend, when feasible, to complete one module per week and to try to implement the learning into your practice. Since the course is yours for life, you can always go back and review any content you miss!

Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain

Q:  Can you tell me more about the FNCP course?
The Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain Certification course is fully approved and accredited by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy for 36 PT CEUs in all 50 states + Puerto Rico. Certification is provided through the Institute.

It is the first (and currently only) Functional Nutrition course accredited by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. Dr. Tatta spent over a year creating a program specifically for the physical therapy profession which covers how diet and nutrition influence pain, orthopedics, neurology, geriatrics and pediatrics.

This is a professional post-graduate and evidence-based training for practitioners who treat pain. Each week, there is didactic information including video training, evidence-based readings and activities to help you translate the knowledge to practice including patient handouts and practical application. There is a short quiz at the end of each week to test participants’ knowledge. Passing all quizzes with a minimum grade of 70 is required for certification.

The Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain Certification program is a 12-week, on demand program. Each week, you’ll receive new content which should take between 1.5 and 3 hours, total, to complete. You can complete the course on your own schedule!

Q: Are there certain dates when the course starts?
This is a rolling admissions course. You can begin and complete the course at any time.

Q: Can I get all the content delivered at once?
Dr. Tatta designed this to be a practical and skill building course with new content delivered to you every 7 days for 12 weeks.

Each week in the course is a prerequisite to the next, and the material builds weekly so you can translate the knowledge into clinical practice. If provided in one large chunk, you may not be able to synthesize appropriately or have challenges applying it to practice.
